Sebastiaan Surie is responsible for shaping and managing CFM’s New Ventures strategy and portfolio.
Sebastiaan has 20 years of experience in private equity, development finance and climate-focused infrastructure, investing across Africa and other emerging markets. He joined CFM at its inception, helping establish the firm and develop its Africa investment strategy and later served as Regional Head of Africa, where he led more than USD 500 million in investments across renewable energy, water and sanitation. He subsequently became Head of Green Hydrogen, overseeing CFM’s strategy and portfolio in green hydrogen and energy transition infrastructure. Before CFM, Sebastiaan worked in Kenya with TBL Mirror Fund, Jacana Partners, FSD Africa and the Gatsby Charitable Foundation, and began his career with ING Bank and DIF. He holds an MSc in Systems Engineering, Policy Analysis and Management from Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands.
