The Hague, 14 April 2026: Climate Fund Managers, a climate-focused blended finance investment manager, has been named Investor of the Year (Asset Manager) at the 2026 Environmental Finance Sustainable Debt Awards, recognising its role in advancing blended finance solutions for climate adaptation in emerging markets.
Organised by Environmental Finance, a leading international media publication covering sustainable investment and green finance markets, the Sustainable Debt Awards recognise leading transactions and institutions in global sustainable debt markets, including green, social and sustainability-linked finance.
The award recognised two key sustainable debt achievements delivered by Climate Fund Managers and its partners in 2025:
- The GAIA Climate Loan Fund, co-founded by FinDev Canada, MUFG and the Green Climate Fund, reached a first close of USD 600 million. The fund, Climate Fund Managers’ first private credit vehicle, provides long-term loans to climate mitigation and adaptation projects in emerging markets, including Least Developed Countries and Small Island Developing States. As noted by one of the awards judges, the GAIA Climate Loan Fund “bridges a critical funding gap for infrastructure assets… that have often struggled to have their capital needs met.”
- The final close of Climate Investor Two (CI2) at USD 1.065 billion, making it the largest climate adaptation infrastructure fund focused on emerging markets. The fund includes an innovative Bridge-to-Bond structure facilitated by our strategic partner, Sanlam Investments, based in South Africa. The facility’s structure includes a bridge loan from Sanlam Alternative Investments, supported by an EFSD+ guarantee from the European Commission. The bridge loan is envisioned to be taken out through a climate bond, creating a pathway for fixed income investors to access CI2’s underlying adaptation assets across water, waste and oceans infrastructure.
The awards judges commented Climate Fund Managers is “highly innovative in areas that deserve highlighting: adaptation and debt platforms/ mobilisation.”
