- Accreditation enables Climate Fund Managers to directly access resources from the world’s largest dedicated climate fund
- Strengthens Climate Fund Managers’ ability to mobilise public and private capital for climate solutions in emerging markets
- Covers the Green Climate Fund’s highest accreditation category, including projects and programmes above USD 250 million and Category A environmental and social risk
The Hague, 1 July 2026: Climate Fund Managers has been accredited by the Green Climate Fund (GCF), strengthening its ability to mobilise concessional and private capital for climate solutions in emerging markets. The accreditation was approved by the GCF Board during its 45th Board meeting in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
GCF is the world’s largest dedicated climate fund, supporting developing countries to pursue low-emission and climate-resilient development. Through its network of Accredited Entities, GCF channels concessional capital into climate mitigation and adaptation programmes and helps mobilise additional public and private investment.
Climate Fund Managers is a climate-focused blended finance investment manager operating in emerging markets across Africa, Asia and Latin America. It currently has over USD 2.8 billion in assets under management and more than 50 active projects.
GCF is already an investor in two of Climate Fund Managers’ private equity funds, Climate Investor One and Climate Investor Two as well as its first private credit fund, the GAIA Climate Loan Fund. As a GCF Accredited Entity, Climate Fund Managers can now directly access GCF capital and develop funding proposals in its own right.
The accreditation scope allows Climate Fund Managers to programme in the Green Climate Fund’s highest size and environmental and social risk categories, enabling Climate Fund Managers to develop and manage projects and programmes above USD 250 million, including those involving the highest (Category A/I-1) environmental and social risk. It follows a rigorous assessment of Climate Fund Managers’ governance, fiduciary standards, environmental and social safeguards, risk management systems and institutional capacity.
Jim Brands, Head of Development Finance & Public Institutions at Climate Fund Managers, said: “We are proud to be welcomed as a GCF Accredited Entity. This accreditation enhances our ability to mobilise public and private capital for climate action and, ultimately, to accelerate the development and scaling of climate mitigation and adaptation projects in the countries and communities that need them most.”
Achala Abeysinghe, Director of the Green Climate Fund’s Department of Investment Services said:
“The accreditation of Climate Fund Managers B.V. by the Green Climate Fund creates new opportunities to mobilize climate finance at scale and support private sector investments that advance low-emission, climate-resilient development in developing countries. This reinforces GCF’s commitment to work with a diverse set of partners to unlock greater investment for climate action.”
The accreditation builds on Climate Fund Managers’ successful completion of the European Commission pillar assessment in 2025 and reflects the firm’s continued institutional development. With ten years’ operational track record across the global south and five blended finance vehicles under management, Climate Fund Managers is one of the world’s leaders in the development and implementation of blended climate impact investment.
